A pair of flameless tapers moulded as nutcracker soldiers and finished in a soft brushed gold — braided epaulettes, buttoned tunic, moustache and tall plumed hat all picked out in relief. The LED flame flickers from the crown of the hat, and the tapered base slots into a standard candlestick. Two heights in the pair.

Style note — the table: Flank a centrepiece with one at each end so they read as sentries.

Style note — the mantel: Stand them in glass or brass holders where the gold catches the fairy lights.

Two Ways to Style It

On a red-and-gold Christmas table. Set them either side of a garland run down the centre with tartan ribbon and brass — full Nutcracker, entirely intentional.

On a dark marble console. Pair the two heights together against black or deep green, where all that gold reads as sculpture rather than novelty.
